Did you know?

Over 300 Alaska Native men were diagnosed with prostate cancer between 1969 and 2003. The prostate cancer incidence rate in Alaska Native men during 1994–2003 was significantly higher than that for the earlier period of 1969–1983. At the same time, the rate of incidence of prostate cancer among US white men for 1994–2002 was significantly higher than the rate for Alaska Native men. Results of comparisons between Alaska Native ethnic groups for 1969–2003 showed that prostate cancer was highest in Indians and Aleuts and lowest among Eskimos.

What is interesting is that compared to the US white population, the incidence of prostate cancer in Alaska Native men is significantly lower.
