PCAP and the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo

People often ask, what does the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project (PCAP) do to raise awareness for prostate cancer testing in men? The first step is to go where the men are – which is usually sporting events. Cycling has become a rapidly growing activity in the US and when the opportunity for PCAP to team up with pro cyclist Jeremiah Bishop and become the lead sponsor for The Alpine Loop Gran Fondo, we jumped at the chance.

The Alpine Loop Gran Fondo was held on September 24, 2011 and over 200 people participated in what is described as the toughest Gran Fondo in the US. How tough? Watch this video and see for yourself:

Robert Hess, prostate cancer survivor and founder of PCAP, handed out the KOM (King Of the Mountain) jerseys to the winners. It was a great opportunity to help men understand the importance of early testing and screening for prostate cancer.
