Did you know?

Ty Cobb, Baseball Outfielder Died of Prostate Cancer Complications.

Tyrus Raymond “Ty” Cobb, nicknamed “The Georgia Peach,” was a Georgia-born American Major League Baseball outfielder.

In December 1959, Cobb was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Initially, he did not trust his diagnosis, but after seeking more advice from doctors his prostate was found to be cancerous. It was removed at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, but that did little to help Cobb. From this point until the end of his life, Cobb criss-crossed the country, going from his lodge in Tahoe to the hospital in Georgia.

He checked into Emory Hospital for the last time in June 1961 and died a month later, on July 17, 1961.

Early diagnosis is crucial in successful treatment of prostate cancer. Help spread the awareness of early diagnosis. Donate your vehicle to the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project today.
